Attention:  Send your chapter articles and pictures to Matt Coffey, Managing Editor for the Turkey Call

at mcoffey@nwtf.net  or send them to us and we will send them for you.

First here are some tips from the Editors for sending in articles and pictures.  We would like you to follow these same guidelines when sending us items for the Kentucky NWTF website and our newsletters.

Here are some brief tips to help you when submitting articles to the TURKEY CALL.

  • Be concise and make your purpose clear in the fist paragraph.  I will edit articles for length.  Limit your articles to 600 words or less.

  • Try to include live quotes from people attending the event or function.

  • Ask yourself - Who, What, Where, When, Why and How.  Let your story build around the why and how.

  • Weed out unnecessary and redundant words.

  • Read past CALLER articles for example of published materials.

  • Be as creative as you like, but do not let creativity get in the way of clarity.

Here are some brief tips to help you when submitting photographs

to the TURKEY CALL.

  • We prefer 4X6 inch color prints, with matte finish.  Use 100-400 speed films.

  • Digital pictures are recommended at least 200/300 dpi at 5X7 inch JPEG format, little to no compression.

  • If you are photographing outdoors, keep the sun behind you -- feel it on your back and see it on your subject's face -- and use a flash to reduce face shadows.

  • Where applicable, try to limit the number of subjects in the photographs; it is difficult to capture faces in group photos.

  • Identify each person in the photo: first and last name, home town and age when applicable.

NWTF STYLE BOOK

The attached PDF file was published by the NWTF a few years ago to help us use the correct names, titles and spelling for NWTF programs.  I removed it several months ago do to limited file space in our website server.  This problem has been corrected and I was asked several times to put this back on line, so here it is:

THERE HAVE ALSO BEEN SOME CHANGES IN THE DEADLINES FOR SCHOLARSHIPS.  YOU CAN FIND THESE IN THE SAME AREA ON THE JAKES INFORMATION PAGES OF THE NATIONAL WEBSITE.

You will also find any other information you need concerning scholarships on the XTREME JAKES pages.  CLICK HERE.

This is a link to the National website newsroom.  At the bottom of this page you will find all of the "FILL IN THE BLANKS" forms for promoting and/or reporting your banquets, JAKES events, Wheelin' Sportsmen events, etc.  These forms make it easier to "TOOT YOUR OWN HORN" and let your community know what your chapter is doing for them.  CLICK HERE TO GO TO THAT PAGE!

We have several ideas for this page, again the intent is to make it easier, more productive AND more fun for you to operate your chapter, so let's here your ideas too.  Large or small, no idea is bad, it's just a matter of if we can do it or not.

Some of the thing's we're going to be doing, is finding all the pages on the National website that have downloads in it for you to use with your event and put links on this page to take you there quickly.  We also, would like to develop some of our own specialized fill in the blank forms, here again, we need your input as to what you would like to have available to you; on this page or anywhere on the website.  Please contact me at info@kentuckynwtf.com and let me know what you're thinking.  This is your website, each of you have the right to give your input.

Thanks,

Bob Passeretti, State Director/Webmaster
